Brel : la vie et les chansons du Grand Jacques - a talk by Vincent RAYMOND-BARKER
In 1978, a friend told Vincent she'd wept since Brel's death. Years later, a song in a stranger’s car revealed Brel’s genius. Discover the life and music of this iconic artist through song and story.

Vincent Raymond-Barker Professeur à la retraite, ancien Head of French, Wolverhampton Grammar School, responsable anglais pendant 27 ans de l’échange homestay de ce lycée avec Collège Saint Joseph, Savenay, Loire Atlantique 1990-2015. Titulaire d’un BA French (University of Kent 1981), PGCE (London Institute of Education 1982.) Conférencier au cercle français de Wolverhampton depuis 2014.
About the talk:
Une amie a écrit à Vincent en 1978 pour lui dire qu’elle pleurait depuis le 9 octobre -jour de la mort du Grand Jacques. Cinq ans après, en faisant du stop en Bretagne, Vincent a compris la grandeur de Brel en écoutant « Orly » dans la voiture d’un gentil automobiliste. On écoutera des extraits des chansons de Brel, tout en étudiant la vie de ce grand auteur-compositeur-interprète, poète, acteur et réalisateur.
