Odile will talk about Provence and the city of Marseille where she was born.

This talk will discuss the many challenges of translation in daily life, literature and business. Catherine will give us examples of cultural and linguistic difficulties encountered in the process of translating.

Ernest Hébert was born in Grenoble in 1817 He was a French academic painter who was mainly self-taught although he took lessons in Paris while studying Law. His first success came with Le Tasse en prison, which depicts. a prisoner receiving a visitor in his cell.

Their names were René and Juliette; Edith and Michel; Yves and Simone; Jean and Jean; to name but a few. In spite of difficulties, separation even, their relationships have survived the many traumas of life and earned them a place in the Pantheon of famous lovers.

Radium, the shoe, the umbrella, even preserving methods… Claude will start with inventions connected with food and transport and then move on to many more French inventions.

Although France appears to have been a place of asylum and refuge for European Jews in the 19th & 20th centuries, we should be aware that the Jewish community was present in France a long time before this, even before France existed as a nation. The Jewish community contributed to the establishment.

This conference is in three parts: The first part describes the origin and the evolution of the French language up to the French revolution, with an emphasis on the kings who were instrumental in making French the official language of the country and the writers who contributed to its embellishment

Paule will take us on a discovery of the island of Martinique which is also known as the Flower Island for the beauty of its luxuriant vegetation. We will discover its geography, history, beautiful landscapes et traditions. Paule will answer questions after the video.
