About the event

With the Dreyfus Affair trial threatening to imprison Émile Zola, he fled to England, arriving without luggage and unable to speak a word of English. The peace and anonymity allowed him to regain his inspiration and resume writing, both for his literary work and his observations on his country of exile. We will also compare the places captured by this excellent photographer with how they look 100 years later. I will reveal how we installed the plaque commemorating his stay in Weybridge on the house he once lived in.
