About the event
Combining music ,dance and theatre and produced by Moliere and Lully, these amazing pieces were great favourite at the Court of the Sun KIng. Moliere invented this genre : we celebrate the 400th anniversary of his birth this year.In collaboration with the greatest composers of his days, such as Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687) and Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643- 17040) Moliere produced master-pieces , amongst them Le Malade Imaginaire & Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. These were made especially for the grandiose festivities in Versailles and in Chambord for the king’s pleasure. They have contributed to the development of French Opera.
